Apples iOS 121 to finally bring Group FaceTime calls, Dual SIM support for iPhone XS and iPhone XR

Apple has updated the iPhone User Guide for iOS 12.1 with two major additions confirming the availability of two highly-anticipated features: Group FaceTime and Dual-SIM support for the newly launched iPhone XS and iPhone XR. The revised guide is available for free through Apple Books and it serves as a digital manual for iPhone users. The e-book, however, does not mention any specific date or time for the release of iOS 12.1. Apple introduced Group FaceTime at this year’s WWDC and the feature will let users club upto 32 users (one host and 31 others) in one call. The main participants of the call will get their own window on the top half of the screen, while all other participants will be shown at the bottom of the screen. The most interesting aspect of the feature is when a participant is speaking, his or her window pops out to become more prominent. There is no word on what will happen if multiple people are speaking at the same time. We’ll have to wait till the update is rolled out to get more clarity on it. The feature was expected to roll out with the initial release of iOS 12 in September, but in August the company announced that the Group FaceTime will not be rolling out when iOS 12 becomes publicly available. It was implied that Apple wanted to spend some more time to improve upon the Group FaceTime before it makes it official. The Cupertino-based company launched the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR with Dual-SIM support for select markets. The iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max come with Gigabit-class LTE for faster download speeds and Dual SIM-Dual Standby (DSDS) through the use of a nano-SIM and digital eSIM. Only in China, Apple will offer the iPhone XS and XS Max with normal dual SIM slots. In India, Airtel and Reliance Jio are offering the eSIM facility on the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. Apple is expected to host a launch event on October 30 where it will reportedly unveil new iPad and Mac devices. The iOS 12.1 could could coincide with the event.
