Nokia 71 leaked in full: Price, specs and more revealed

The Nokia 7.1 which is rumoured to launch either tomorrow or later this month has leaked out in full. A German tech website Winfuture.de has revealed the pricing, key hardware specs, and some image renders — Essentially all the important bits. The Nokia 7.1, like all the recent launches from HMD will have a notch up top. Based on the renders, it’s not going to take up a lot of space. The phone has apparently also cleared FCC certification indicating it will launch in the US and Canada market. The Nokia 7.1 seems to look a lot like the earlier Nokia 6.1 Plus (review) and the Nokia 5.1 Plus (review). Rounded edges. Aluminium chassis housed inside a glass frame. Dark blue colour variant. And a notch. Based on the image render, it’s also apparent that the phone will run on pure, stock Android 8.1 Oreo. Incidentally, it won’t launch with Android 9 Pie out of the box. The render for the rear panel suggests the phone will be Android One certified. The Nokia 7.1 will sport a 5.84-inch IPS LCD panel with the in-vogue 19:9 aspect ratio and fullHD+ resolution, which further confirms there will be a notch up top. Under the hood will be a Snapdragon 636 powering the phone. That will be paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. Both variants will have support for expandable storage via microSD card. Furthermore, the Nokia 7.1 will tout camera lenses from Zeiss Optics. The earlier Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus skipped the Zeiss branding, and in our review we had noted the image quality isn’t as good as the Nokia 6.1 (which had Zeiss-branded lenses). On the Nokia 7.1, there  could be a 12MP+5MP camera dual camera setup, with the secondary sensor probably there to capture depth information. There wasn’t a word on what the resolution of the front camera will be. The report also states that the Nokia 7.1 will go on sale on October 22 in Europe and will be priced 349 Euros (approximately Rs 29,000) for the base variant and 400 Euros (approximately Rs 33,000) for the 4GB+64GB variant.
