OxygenOS 902 with Nightscape and Studio Lighting now rolling out to OnePlus 6
Two days after OnePlus rolled out the OxygenOS Open Beta 6 for OnePlus 6, the company has now announced that it has started to release the stable version of the next update, OxygenOS 9.0.2, for the OnePlus 6 that will bring some camera features like Nightscape and Studio Lighting. According to OnePlus, Nightscape uses AI to enhance the photos taken in low-light conditions and the Studio Lighting feature augments the minute details in an image. The rollout means that the company has delivered on its promise which it made just after the OnePlus 6T launch event, announcing that it would bring these features in the predecessor as well. Since the OTA update is a staged rollout, it will be released for masses in a few days. “This OTA will have a staged rollout. The OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs. Using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices,” OnePlus wrote in a blogpost. Apart from these two highly-anticipated features, the update will also bring a string of System-related new features. The company has also invited feedback in the bug reporting forum. The System-related features include, new navigation gestures, an improved UI for About phone, optimised standby power consumption and the November Android security patch. The OxygenOS 9.0.2 also added support to launch Google Assistant or other third party assistant app by holding the power button for 0.5 seconds. The update also brings general bug fixes and improvements. In the beta rollout announcement, OnePlus also said that there is a new Google quick search box design, while the Gallery will gets an improved zooming gesture and magnification. The OnePlus 6T has bigger 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 coupled with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. In the camera department, the OnePlus 6T and the OnePlus 6 have the same sensors. The smartphones have a 16MP Sony IMX 519 primary sensor with 1.22um pixel pitch and f/1.7 aperture lens, combined with a secondary 20MP Sony IMX 376K with 1.0um pixel size and f/1.7 aperture lens. Both lenses are also electronically and optically stabilised and they offer a 25mm focal length. You can read our analyses of the camera-centric features here.
