Android Auto update rolling out with refreshed look
Google has started rolling out the update to its Android Auto ecosystem, which was originally promised at I/O 2019. The update is much awaited as the search giant has not made any significant change to Android Auto since its launch. Reddit users are reporting that a server-side update is being released to some users, bringing a new in-car interface along with it. A picture of the updated interface has also been posted by a user.
The new update will allow Android Auto to start playing your music and launch a navigation app of your choice automatically. The modified navigation bar will enable you to use your phone for apps, calls, and navigation simultaneously. A new notification panel should allow you to see your notifications in a stacked manner.
The most anticipated feature of Android Auto, however, is the dark mode. Google says that the mode is complemented by easy to read fonts and colourful accents. With this new update, Android Auto maximises the viewing area in the UI according to the size of the screen on the car's dashboard. This feature also allows the app to cram in additional information for the user.
As mentioned by a Redditor, the new update is a server-side change that should reflect on your phone in the coming days. While it's a good idea to keep the app updated to the latest version, it won't change the look of Android Auto until Google rolls it out.
