Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 with under-display fingerprint sensor, Snapdragon 855 announced
As promised, Samsung has today announced its new Galaxy Tab S6 tablet. While there’s a lot of information that was yet to be made official, we had a pretty good idea about how the device would look like and what key features it could come with, thanks to the numerous leaks and reports. The Galaxy Tab S6 is a successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and it comes with a slightly updated design and specifications. The device is equipped with a 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display and sports a refreshed S Pen.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 specificationsThe Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is powered by a 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor and while the company hasn’t mentioned it, it’s most likely the Snapdragon 855 SoC. The tablet features a 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display and comes with 128GB of internal storage and 6GB and 8GB memory variants to choose from. It also features an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device is backed by a 7,040mAh battery and the S Pen has a 0.35mAh cell that is wirelessly charged when it is paired with the tablet. Ten minutes of wireless charging for the S Pen is apparently enough to let it work for about 10 hours.
Speaking of the new S Pen on the device, it now comes with BLE remote control features. This will enable one to use a gesture function called S Pen Air actions that enable using the device to capture photos and videos. This is similar to the functionalities Samsung introduced with the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 also supports Samsung DeX, which enables using the tablet as a computer with a dedicated Book Cover Keyboard. The keyboard is also said to be improved with better functionality, new functions key and more.
Coming to the optics, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is said to be the company’s first dual-rear camera setup on a tablet with an ultra-wide angle sensor. The rear camera consists of a 13MP + 5MP dual sensor configuration while on the front sits an 8MP camera. The device is also equipped with four speakers that are tuned by AKG and also support Dolby Atmos.
“Today’s inspiration comes at a moment’s notice and creatives and professionals need a device able to keep up with insatiable imaginations while complementing their busy, on-the-go lifestyles,” says DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics. “Galaxy Tab S6 enables consumers to unlock their creativity, while delivering the top-quality productivity features and advanced technology they have come to expect from Samsung tablets.”
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 comes in Mountain Gray, Cloud Blue, and Rose Blush colors. The company has not yet provided any information on when the device will be made available in India.
