Xiaomi may announce gamepad for Redmi K20 at China Joy Expo
Nowadays, smartphone accessories are not limited to earphones and chargers. OEMs are now moving ahead with attachments like battery cases and gaming controllers that go along with their phones. One such company is Xiaomi, which has hinted at the launch of a game controller for the Redmi K20 (Review). The company is expected to unveil the game controller accessory at the China Joy Expo, one of China’s largest gaming and digital entertainment exhibition. Xiaomi’s official Weibo account has shared a teaser poster which reveals that it will announce a new gaming product, that is, a gamepad. The gamepad is identical to the one that was launched with the first Xiaomi Black Shark gaming smartphone.
Redmi K20 SpecificationsThe Redmi K20 shares similar specs and features as the Redmi K20 Pro. It features a 3D curved glass back and is equipped with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a1080 x 2340p resolution. Both front and rear panel of the handset are protected by Gorilla Glass 5. The phone is touted to have 91.9-percent screen-to-body ratio and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Redmi K20 is powered by the Snapdragon 730 SoC, paired with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage.
In the camera department, the Redmi K20 comes equipped with a triple rear camera setup. There’s a 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor, which is paired with an 8MP telephoto camera that offers 2x optical zoom, and a 13MP ultra wide-angle camera. The main camera supports laser autofocus and dual-LED flash. There’s a 20MP front camera housed in a pop-up module and the module’s lens is protected by Sapphire glass. The Redmi K20 is backed by a 4000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
Recently, the phone was pulled into a dispute when a disgruntled Mi fan urged the company to cut the device's “high price." He started a petition tagging Xiaomi, Redmi and the company India MD Manu Kumar Jain, asking them to reduce the handset's base price to Rs 20,000. Further, people are also seeking a price cut on the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. To this, the company has said that since the processor in the phone is new as compared to the ones in the competitors’ handsets, the Redmi K20 has been priced accordingly.
