BSNL challenges Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone with Rs 1098 prepaid plan, offers ruly unlimited data and free calling without any speed restrictions

There’s such high competition in the telecom sector that instead of making profits, most major telcos are haemorrhaging money and are in serious debt. However, this has not discouraged the state-run telecom operator BSNL to slow down its efforts for gaining more consumers and offering more to its consumers via its services. The telecom operator also has a prepaid recharge plan that is priced at Rs 1098 and offers unlimited data and calling, without any restrictions or capping. Currently, there’s no such unlimited plan being offered by any other telecom operator but it should also be noted that the prepaid option by BSNL is relatively expensive as it is valid only for 84 days.

The Rs 1098 prepaid plan by BSNL was first spotted by TelecomTalk and as per the report, the plan is capped at 375GB in some circles. We checked the plan in the Maharashtra and UP West circle to find that there is no capping on the unlimited data offering. However, we suggest that our readers check with the telco regarding plan details, in their respective circle, before performing a recharge. This prepaid plan also offers unlimited national calling, along with 100 free SMS per day and free PRBT (personalized ring back tone facility).

In other BSNL news, the telco is trying hard to turn the tables when it comes to revenue generation. The government is reportedly planning a revival plan for the company and that plan apparently entails a Rs 15,000 crore merger of BSNL and MTNL. The á¹elco is also apparently planning a hike for its current tariff pricing, which comes hot on the heels of other telcos’ announcements. Reliance Jio, Vodafone-Idea and Airtel, all the top three telecom operators have announced of increasing the price of their services from December this year. We are expecting increased prepaid and postpaid plan prices but nothing is certain till any official announcement is made.
