Redmi K30 may pack a 60MP camera, 120Hz refresh rate display and more

Redmi K20 was a popular device from Redmi. Not too long after the launch, the company may be planning to launch its successor, Redmi K30. The long-rumoured device launch was reported to be delayed to January, but the Xiaomi CEO confirmed that the Redmi K30 5G model will be launched this December. Now, more information about the handset has surfaced online. 

XDA-Developers has spotted a Xiaomi device codenamed “Phoenix,” which is said to be the Redmi K30. The Redmi K30 could come with a 120Hz refresh rate display. A method called  “isSuppotHighFrameRate” was spotted by the website. The high refresh rate setting was forced to show up and it is defined to only switch between 60Hz and 120Hz. The feature is said to debut with the Xiaomi “Phoenix.”

Redmi K30 is rumoured to sport a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. According to the report, a new method called “isBroadSideFingerprint” has been added in the recent versions of MIUI 11. A graphic titled “core_scan_gesture_broadside” was spotted, which shows a generic smartphone with dual hole-punch front cameras and a right-side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Moreover, the Redmi K30 is also said to be the first device to sport Sony’s upcoming IMX686 image sensor that is supposed to be a 60MP image sensor. Redmi K30 has been confirmed by the company to launch in December. According to Chinese media, Jun confirmed that the launch timeline of the Redmi K30 5G model at the Xiaomi Developers Conference. 

There is also a possibility that Redmi K30 5G variant will launch next month, but it might be made available to purchase in 2020. The smartphone will be a successor of the Redmi K20 and we expect a Redmi K30 Pro to be in the pipeline as well.
