Samsung trademarks Bright Night sensor, may feature in Galaxy S11 smartphone: Report
Information about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S11 continues to leak in bits and pieces. This time around, Dutch publication LetsGoDigital claim to have gotten their hands on a trademark filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The filing describes a new camera sensor that is dubbed “Bright Night”. As per the filing, the sensor will be used in smartphones and tablets. Details about Bright Night are not yet known, and it is speculated that it might be a new sensor dedicated for low-light photography.
Samsung has also filed a patent for a feature called ‘Space Zoom’. Once again, details about the feature are not yet known, except for the fact that it will offer lossless zoom. It is possible that the feature is aims at helping with Astrophotography, a much touted feature in the Pixel 4.
The upcoming samsung phone is tipped to feature a quad-rear camera setup with support for 5x optical zoom. It is also tipped to feature a 2nd Gen 108MP sensor. To recall, Samsung unveiled the 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor in August this year. The sensor was developed in partnership with Xiaomi and is used in the Mi Note 10 smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy S11 is tipped to be available in three screen sizes, with five variants overall. Notable tipter, Evan Blass tweeted that the upcoming Samsung Flagship will be available in 6.2, 6.4 and 6.7 inches. He also notes that 6.2-inch and 6.4-inch variants will be available in LTE and 5G variants, while the 6.7-inch variant will only be available in 5G. He further adds that all of the device will feature a curved design. The new phone is tipped to be unveiled sometime in mid-to-late February, which is around the time of the Mobile World Congress.
