Similar to Reliance Jio, Airtel reportedly enables queueing prepaid plans ahead of price hike

The top three telecom operators in India, Vodafone-Idea, Reliance Jio and Airtel, have announced hiking their tariff prices from December 2019. However, Jio users still have a way to safeguard themselves from the imminent price increase by purchasing and queuing recharge plans in advance. While most people know that Jio offers the option to pre-purchase and queue prepaid plans, the same functionality is apparently offered by Airtel as well. As per a TelecomTalk report, Airtel users can buy a prepaid plan before their current pack expires and instead of coming into effect instantly, it is said to be queued.

While the queueing feature is claimed to work, it should be noted that one can only line up plans when they are already on an unlimited combo plan, the report states. This means that Airtel users on Smart Recharge plan can’t queue plans if they go forward with the process, the chosen pack will apparently be activated instantly. In order to queue plans, one needs to be on an unlimited combo plan. Additionally, the report claims that even thr long term recharge option priced at Rs 1,699 can be chained. However, some plans might not work when it comes to queueing.

The option to queue plans ahead of an imminent tariff hike is surely exciting. However, we suggest our readers check with Airtel before performing any recharge to ensure the option is available in their respective telecom circle. The option to queue recharge plans is said to have been available for Airtel users from quite some time now. It does seem a bit atypical that Airtel didn’t advertise the option in a prolific manner.

As mentioned above, almost all the leading telecom operators in India have confirmed that they will increase their tariff prices. While undisclosed, we expect the companies to increase the pricing of their prepaid and postpaid plans.
