Redmi K20 series can now stream HD videos from Amazon Prime video, Redmi K20 Pro gets MIUI v1103 update
Redmi K20 Pro was launched in India back in July running MIUI 10.3 Global Stable build on top of Android 9 Pie. Since then, it has received several updates. Now, the Redmi K20 Pro is receiving MIUI v11.0.3 update in India. The MIUI 11.0.3.0.QFKINXM update doesn't bring a new security patch and the phone still stays on the November Android security patch. On the other hand, the Redmi K20 series, which consists of the Redmi K20 and the K20 Pro, now supports HD video playback on Amazon Prime Video. While the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro have Widevine L1 certification to support high-quality video streaming, Amazon didn't enable HD video playback till now.
The MIUI update was first spotted by Fonearena. The update for the Redmi K20 Pro is sized between 520MB and 2.2GB, which varies depending on the existing software version. As per the changelog, this update brings fixes an issue affecting notification settings while using Second space.
Minor changes include renaming GPS toggle as “Location” and optimisation of the Clock app to show “more obvious naming” for local time. An issue causing images to overlap while scrolling screenshots is also fixed. Redmi K20 Pro users can head over to Settings > About phone > System update and check availability of the latest MIUI update.
Coming to the second development, Redmi K20 series didn’t support HD video playback from Prime Video despite Widevine L1 certification. Now, according to an official post on MIUI forums, Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro support HD video playback from Prime Video.
