Redmi Note 9S goes official: Price, specs, availability

Redmi Note 9S has gone official, and as rumoured, it’s the Redmi Note 9 Pro in another name, launched in South Asian markets like Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Everything about the Redmi Note 9S is same as the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

The Redmi Note 9S is powered by the Snapdragon 720G and offers up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. There’s also a variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The body is covered in Gorilla Glass 5 and there’s a splash-resistant coating as well. At the back, there’s a 48MP quad camera setup while the screen on the front is dotted by a hole-punch 16MP selfie camera.

Redmi Note 9S hardware specifications

The Redmi Note 9S offers a 6.67-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD panel with 91 percent screen to body ratio and 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by the 8nm Snapdragon 720G SoC with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.

At the back, the quad camera setup is led by a 48MP camera sensor with f/1.79 aperture. That’s followed by an 8MP ultrawide lens with 119-degree field of view, a 5MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front is a 16MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture.

The Note 9 Pro comes with a dedicated microSD card slot and there’s a 5020mAh battery inside with 18W fast charging support. There’s support for Bluetooth 5, Dual Nano SIM, GPS and NavIC. The  Note 9S also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C port.

Redmi Note 9S price and availability

Since the Redmi Note 9S is practically the same as the recently launced Redmi Note 9 Pro, it’s safe to say this is meant for other markets. The price of the Redmi Note 9S starts from RM 799 (roughly Rs 13,000) for the base variant while the 6GB RAM+128GB variant will retail for RM 899 (roughly Rs 15,000). The phone will be available in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore later this month. Redmi is offering three colour variants — Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Grey. AliExpress will also deliver the device in other countries for $249 (roughly Rs 19,000) from April 7.
