Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, and Redmi 6 Pro launched in India: Price, launch offers and all you need to know

After various teasers and reveals, Xiaomi has finally announced its Redmi 6 series of smartphones in India. The company has launched the Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6 Pro smartphones, which vary in prices, specs and features. Xiaomi says that the Redmi 6A is the smartphone for all and is the successor to the company's entry-level Redmi 5A smartphone. The Redmi 6 has been updated with dual-cameras and an Octa-core SoC, while the Redmi 6 Pro is the company’s first Redmi smartphone in India to feature a notch on top of its display. Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro Price, Availability and Launch offers The Redmi 6A and the Redmi 6 smartphones have been launched in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Blue colour variants. The 2GB RAM/16GB storage model of the Redmi 6A is priced at Rs 5,999 and there is also a 2GB RAM/32GB storage version of the phone, which is priced at Rs 6,999 for the first two months. The device will go on sale at 12 PM on September 19 via Mi.com, Amazon.in and via the company’s Mi Homes and offline partners. The Redmi 6 comes in two variants, one with 3GB RAM/32GB of internal storage and its introductory price is Rs 7,999. The 3GB RAM/64GB storage version of the device is priced at Rs 9,499. The smartphone will go up for sale at 12PM on September 10 via Mi.com, Flipkart, Mi Homes and offline partners. Launch offers on the Redmi 6 include a Rs 500 off for HDFC debit/credit card customers on the first sale when purchasing the device online. The Redmi 6 Pro will ship in Red, Blue, Gold and Black colour models. It comes with an ultra slim case in the box. It will be available in two variants - a 3GB RAM/32GB storage version that is priced at Rs 10,999 and a 4GB RAM/64GB model that will cost Rs 12,999. The smartphone will go on sale at 12PM on September 11 via Mi.com, Amazon.in and via the company’s Mi Homes and offline partners. HDFC credit/debit customers will get the same Rs 500 off on purchase. It should be noted that all of the three smartphones have been launched at an introductory price, which could be changed at a later date if the value of the Rupee depreciates further in comparison to the Dollar. Redmi 6A Specifications The Redmi 6A features a brushed metallic finish on the rear panel features an ‘arc’ design that is said to make it easier to hold. The smartphone is powered by a 12nm quad-core Helio A22 processor, which is said to touch max clock speeds of up to 2.0 GHz. It features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. Coming to the optics, the smartphone features a 13P single sensor with Phase Detection Autofocus. It comes with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) so that clicked images are less blurry and the company says that it's the first smartphone in its price segment to come with the feature. On the front is a 5MP sensor with AI portrait and AI Beautify mode. The smartphone features AI Face Unlock and supports unlocking via a Mi Band as well. It features dual VoLTE with dual standby and 2+1 card slots. It runs on MIUI 9.6, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The company has promised to soon roll out MIUI 10 for the phone. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery that is said to deliver up to 9 hours and 25 minutes of continuous video playback. Redmi 6 Specifications The Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 display aspect ratio. Like the Redmi 6A, the Redmi 6 also features a brushed metallic finish on the rear panel and an ‘Arc’ design. The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P22 Octa-Core processor, which is clocked at 2.0GHz. Xiaomi claims that the smartphone delivers up to 30 percent improved performance over its predecessor. The dual-SIM handset supports dual VoLTE with dual standby too and comes with AI Face Unlock, along with a fingerprint sensor. In terms of camera, the smartphone features a 12MP + 5MP dual-rear camera setup with a 1.25µm pixel size and EIS support. The rear camera supports AI portrait mode to capture “better” bokeh shots. The device is backed by a 3000mAh battery that is said to deliver up to 12 hours of video playback. It runs on MIUI 9.6 and is slated to soon receive the MIUI 10 update. Redmi 6 Pro Specifications Coming to the Redmi 6 Pro, the smartphone features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ ‘notch’ screen with a 19:9 display aspect ratio. There is also an option to hide the notch in the device’s settings. It features an aluminium built and sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC and supports AI Face Unlock as well. The Redmi 6 Pro comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup that also supports EIS. It comes with a 12MP Sony IMX 486 primary sensor and a 5MP secondary Samsung sensor. This is the same camera configuration as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The smartphone is powered by a 4000mAh battery that is said to deliver up to 16.5 hours of video playback.
