Alleged images of Samsungs next foldable phone with clamshell design have leaked
In late November, we reported on Samsung’s new patent about a clamshell foldable tablet. Additionally, we’ve already come across rumours of another, more affordable foldable phone by the company that is said to be in the works. Real-world images of Samsung’s alleged upcoming foldable phone have now surfaced online, which hint at a clamshell-style folding phone. The images were tweeted by tipster Ice Universe, who says that the photos were leaked on Chinese social media. If the images are to be believed, the next foldable phone by Samsung could feature a design that’s similar to the recently announced Motorola Razr 2019.
The images hint at a tall display on the handset but the exact dimensions are not mentioned. The device can close in half on its display like a clamshell and there’s a centre-aligned punch hole camera setup on top, not unlike the Galaxy Note10. There are notably thick bezels all around the phone’s display and it is not too surprising since the bezels support the plastic screen and protect it from damage. We remember how JerryRigTesting accidentally killed a line of pixels by accidentally scratching the bezel and a bit of display, so slightly thicker bezels till foldable displays made of glass come around makes sense.
The device shown in the images also has a small secondary display on the upper outer side. When the phone is folded, this display shows time and we guess it would flash notifications as well. The smartphone sports dual-rear cameras with a flash but there’s again no information about the sensor used. The charging port is at the bottom edge, along with the speaker grille and the volume buttons are placed on the phone’s right edge. While the images do hint at a foldable phone, we suggest you take the info with a grain of salt since it’s not officially announced yet.
